Staffing Rating
Shea Post Acute Rehabilitation Center holds an overall 5-star rating from CMS, which is the highest possible score and puts it well above average compared to other nursing facilities nationwide. That overall rating is built from three separate scores, and Shea performs exceptionally well in two of them. The Health Inspection rating is a perfect 5 stars, meaning state inspectors found very few, if any, significant problems during their visits - a strong signal that the facility is being run safely and responsibly. The Quality Measures rating is also 5 stars, which reflects outstanding results across 15 clinical indicators tracking things like how residents manage pain, avoid infections, maintain mobility, and stay out of the hospital. In practical terms, that combination tells you the facility not only passes inspections with flying colors but is also producing genuinely good health outcomes for the people living there.
The one area worth noting is the Staffing rating, which comes in at 3 stars, meaning the ratio of nurse hours to residents falls in the average range rather than the top tier. For most families, this is worth a conversation with the facility - ask how they schedule staff across shifts, including nights and weekends, and whether they rely heavily on agency nurses. Average staffing does not mean poor care, especially when the quality outcomes are as strong as they are here, but it is a reasonable thing to ask about when you visit.

Questions to ask when visiting
1. How many residents does each certified nursing assistant care for during the day shift, and does that number change at night or on weekends?
2. How long have your charge nurses and CNAs been working here, and what does staff turnover look like over the past year?
3. If my loved one has a fall or a health change overnight, what exactly happens and who calls me, how soon?
4. Can I walk through the facility right now, including the memory care unit and a shared dining area, without scheduling it in advance?
5. How do you handle a resident who refuses medication, a meal, or a bath, and who makes decisions about their care when they push back?
6. What does a typical Tuesday look like for a resident who does not have therapy scheduled, and how much time do they spend outside their room?

About CMS Star Ratings
CMS assigns 1–5 star ratings to Medicare and Medicaid-certified nursing homes based on three domains: health inspections, staffing levels, and quality measures. The overall rating is a weighted composite.
A 5-star overall rating does not guarantee excellence in every domain — inspect each sub-rating independently. Data is updated quarterly.
